The next operating system version of Mac Os would be XI as in 11. That isn't very Apple like and could easily be changed to iX could it not?
I'm going for Lion being able to run iOS apps.... using a rosetta like Arm emulator connecting to a native Intel compiled IOS library/cocoaTouch layer.

bought the 27 inch quad i5 stock version last august just days after refresh. I loved it but due to wacky screen issue (dust or heat flaw) I got the apple store to just swap it out 3 months after I bought it. Second one had no issues and continues to perform flawlessly. I want to get a new macbookpro with thunderbolt but I think I'm going to hold off until Lion is released.
I think that a lot of people are going to be doing the same. It just makes sense. 129.00 is not an insignificant amount of money and if there are any issues with this new machine then maybe they will have the bugs worked out by the time that Lion makes its debut. I am also hoping that Apple has the new version of iWork ready by the same time.

Maybe they're testing this so that when AT&T and T-Mo combine, future iPhones will be able to use the T-Mobile 3G bands, even though the phone would still be exclusive to AT&T (and of course, Verizon).

Finally Apple are back from those awful tanking sales G4 years, though will they ever break through that 5% glass ceiling?
I think so -- and soon. Look at the sales of the MacBooks, and they came very late in the quarter! So now we have a full quarter of MacBook sales, PLUS Mac Pros. Not to mention possible iMac and MacBook Pro updates to Core 2 Duo this quarter.
I say we will hit 5% next quarter. Apple is well on its way to being in the Top 3 as far as US marketshare! :)

No, I read that the show actually generates around $160m per year for ABC through advertisers.
You may not like him, but I suppose he is underpaid for the money he can generate...

Between him and Cryer, that's still half of what the show brings in. And you're still not factoring in production costs.

It wouldn't be too difficult for Apple to provide something like Rosetta for iDevice apps. It sounds extremely un-apple though. The only reason Apple provided Rosetta was to ease the PowerPC-Intel transition. Blurgh! I really dislike all the 'faux UI' popping up everywhere...not a fan of it on my iOS products and certainly not Mac OS... it looks tacky...lets hope we get a choice... That fake leather looks so shite, id rather have a simple clean UI thank you...what happened to apple's good taste?

At bloody last! Although, if the price for a standard BT Apple mouse is anything to go by, this is gonna be quitepricey when compared to a generic brand BT mouse.. and for the price Apple are likely to charge, I want a platinum scroll ball :)

With the update notice officially stating When Lion ships this summer What are the chances the iMac refresh will happen at the same time? or will it be in the Fall instead?
Stay positive!! iMacs should get an update soon with a free Lion upgrade. At least I hope.
I think iMac overhaul is in the fall right after the back to school deals are over......
Basically all systems besides MBA and MBP are overdue for an update. iMac and Mac Pro especially.

Furthermore, I have issues with the comments about marketshare increase alone as a primary contributor to getting Macs back into schools. The reason I have a problem with that is that school boards and school superintendants are typically in the back pocket of the IT staffs of the district, and so many of those staffs out there are all MS-heads. Until you can replace those folks (not convert, not convince, but replace) you're hardly likely to see much penetration into the educational market.
I'm the techie guy at an elementary school and 99.9% of all the computers in the district (not just my school, the entire district) are Macs. The last director of technology was really pro-Mac, along w/ a lot of the other schools' techies, which was a good thing. However, the kindergarten teacher @ my school has some peecees which she got on a grant to run some Windows only software (but didn't get them set-up since, according to the last director of technology, didn't fit into the district's technology plans). Also, each techie is getting a MacBook w/ dual boot because we're going to a new program that rates how well the kids to in reading & math where you can see the progress online, but the only way you can upload the results is on Windows. Boo!!! :mad: That's one reason why Macs still have low marketshare: no programs. It's a chicken & the egg problem. Mac marketshare won't go significantly up until more software is ported, but not very much software will be ported until mac marketshare is up.
One problem with increased market share is that there will be more attacks on them. One of the Mac's sources of security is security through obscurity. So, why go after an OS that only has 5% marketshare while another OS has 90%? I don't know whether Windows or Macs are more secure in terms of actual bugs and security holes, but we probably would if Windows & Macs get equal marketshare.
There are two main reasons that I know of to hack into computers, write viruses, or something: (1) to gain entry to a computer to get files, damage the company's infrastructure or (2) to be a jackass. The first one is probably for personal gain and Macs may be a target, the second to make yourself feel good at other people's expense and would probably be Windows-based to inflict the most damage. Almost every song Ive come across on iTunes that costs 1.29 is the musical equivalent of a Michael bay movie.
Also I wish someone besides apple would sell songs in something besides mp3, these days we should be able to download the wav file and convert it to whatever we want.

We are wrapping our best week ever, PPD is now 175k and our outlook is better.
Yet we only have two people using bigadv units... We can do much better :cool:
alright! and i am going to give the bigadv units another shot. but it's not looking good right now - just under 43 min for my first 2 frames. not sure what's going on. i've gotta install some updates on ubuntu and see if that helps

Also, the first MBA didn't have it, and they introduced it in the B revision. So they have been able to squeeze it in before where they weren't initially.
It would be a nice selling point for the upgraded model (as opposed to the base model), same as they did with the PowerBook for a while.

I guess the next step for apple is to take it even further. A touch-screen would be perfect. If the scroll wheel is incorporated into the screen, then wouldn't that mean more space, hince bigger screen? I can only hope.;)
