I don't want to burst your bubble but Apple sell their tracks in a lossy format. Apple's format for iTunes purcases is a different beast to Flac.
Yeah--open mouth insert foot--you know what they say about assumptions. Oh well, still a better bit rate so I guess I'll just be satisfied with that--or maybe I'll just save a bit of money at Amazon. Thanks for pointing out my poor assumptions. :o

"iX" = "Ix", which is the nickname for the character Ford Prefect in the book "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy".
Obviously, the new Apple device is either a digital watch or a towel.
It's the new iWatch nano with a built in towel rack!

-Magsafe is an actual innovation.
It's not. Such power-connectors have been around for a long time. The thing that Apple did was to be first to put one in a laptop. But the actual technology is not new.

They came out, as Mystikal said - 4 ATT 64 gigs and one 16 wifi
In my hand is the last voucher for the 64 ATT model - as they would say in the Big Lebowski, as long as there's "no funny stuff" then Im getting exactly what I came for
Right now - looks like God really loves me...

I'm starting to think it will be. If you look at the "big picture" it makes sense. The iPod is in decline, so Apple's previous big Fall music event isn't really big anymore. The iPhone could shore that up and bring lots of sales to 4Q and maybe even, reinvigorate iPod sales.
Apple then uses early summer to push new Macs for back to school. Late winter/early Spring remains iPad.
I agree
The iPhone is currently the jewel in the crown for Apple so moving it to Autumn will make the latest device the main Christmas gift.
iPods won't be boosted in my opinion though; they mainly appeal to those who dont want an iPhone but use iTunes/want more than 32GB of storage.
They'll boost if they turn it into a fully fledged media behomoth that plugs into a tv and can stream as well as download from iTunes....but at a much cheaper price than an iPhone.

Here we have a PDA device - virtual keyboard, gesture recognition, etc. with a strong possibility of direct connection to the internet (sans computer).
Imagine your in a cafe with friends, some one says hey have you heard this song...? you go online (itunes) right there (wifi) access the song and load it up to your device - pop it into a new play list, rate it etc.
Apple can remove a big barrier of complexity (computer) by making it all in one simple ipod-like device. So there is pobably an entire market strategy with itunes store, etc that extends from this new device. i just bet ya...

if MS makes it cheaper than an iPod then Apple might have some trouble.
Of course it will be cheaper, there is no question. On even comparable products Microsoft always goes with the cheaper price, and Apple can charge a premium right now b/c iPod holds 80% of the market. If something comparable comes out, Apple will be forced to drop their prices.

i5 or i7 CPU combined with 512 GB of storage would be frickin' amazing. Throw in an anti-glare display and a backlit keyboard and I would just about roll over and die.
If they made a Macbook Air with i5 plus 512 GB of storage and a backlit keyboard... even I might buy it! :)

What "desirability" does a tower plus monitor combination have over an iMac exactly? I have no interest in interior design, yet even I can see the benefit of sleek tidy iMac against cable mess ugly boxes taking up too much space.
Tower plus monitor desirable? No thanks.
And you guys accuse PC users of sticking to old stereotypes. If you want to see ugly, take a gaze at the army of external devices that my iMac is going to need. I prefer my cables be inside the case instead of covering my desk.
2+ full size optical drives opppsed to a single slow notebook drive
2+ hard drive bays
Card reader
Easy CPU upgrading
Easy RAM upgrading
Upgradable x16 PCI-Express slot compared to underclocked fixed notebook GPU
3+ PCI/ PCI-E x1 slots for upgrading to new devices
Choice of display
being able to choose what you want to do instead of having everything dictated to you by Steve Jobs.

I can't believe people watch this show. I tried watching it to see what the fuss is all about.....it seems like such a formulaic cheesy sitcom.
I love Bill Maher's take on the whole thing:
http://punchlinemagazine.com/blog/2011/03/video-from-bill-maher-to-charlie-sheen-you-are-on-the-lamest-sitcom-ever
I watched it once and was also amazed it was so popular. It's so run-of-the-mill.

it's an observation, whether you like it or not. But anyway, my post didn't revolve around that point, you just blew out of proportion. Claiming i'm "bored" in your little rant is comical.
Think what you want, but it was still a crappy thing to assume.

Previous iMac HD upgrades have involved removing the screen - yes, really.
Hope these are better in that respect.
UK prices start at 999 for the 21.5" with 2.5GHz quad-core i5, vs $1,119
that's a really poor exchange rate dollar to pound !
is it lower or higher this time?
